LLCP Update!
Fundraising
The fundraiser concert held at St Saviour’s at the end of September was a great success. It was a lovely occasion with the brilliant Jan and Jane (piano and violin) entertaining and delighting the crowd of volunteers, link-friends and other St Saviourites. We heard from volunteers and link-friends on what it means to be part of LLCP and everyone had a chance to say goodbye to Alma for all her brilliant work before I was introduced to the audience as the new coordinator.
Success Story
At the end of 2020 I trained James as a Linking Lives volunteer and put him in touch with Chris who lives at Blackmore House. In the midst of the pandemic, I introduced them over the phone and they began a weekly catch up but it wasn’t the easiest of beginnings. I remember speaking to James about these conversations and he felt that Chris wasn’t that enthused and seemed like he didn’t want the calls to happen. I reassured James and liaised with Chris and genuinely considered finding a new befriender for Chris.
One year on and they are getting on better than ever. James now visits Chris once a week and has taken him on outings into town, for a haircut and even to the pub!
Dates for the Diary
Lunch Club is back on 21st December and hopefully we will have a good showing from volunteers and link-friends.
I have arranged a social evening for the LLCP befrienders on the 30th November at the Brockley Jack. I’ll be there from 6pm. All welcome!
